Bordeaux er det sjelden vi smaker. Pris og krav til lagring har gjort vinene litt mindre aktuelle for de fleste, selv om Bordeaux for de av oss som har vært i gamet i noen år ofte var vår første vinåpenbaring. 2014 årgangen inneholder mange viner som fortsatt er å få på polet, og anses som den beste mellom duoene 2009/10 og 2015/16 – og heldigvis lavere priset enn disse. Og dette er en årgang som ikke trenger like mye lagring som de ovennevnte.

Ungt selvsagt, men vi smaker bredt og håper å lære noe om de sentrale appellasjonene.

Bibendum’s former Bordeaux Buyer Alex Marton, who recently set up under his own name, told me (hentet fra Decanter) that it reminded him of tasting the 2001s. ‘But with all the technology, investment and knowledge wine is very easy to taste.To me this is a fabulous drinking vintage, which is exactly what Bordeaux needed.’

Goedhuis’ David Roberts has an even longer memory of tasting nubile Bordeaux and has also been impressed by what he had so far sampled on the Left Bank. (At the time, he had not yet crossed the Gironde.) ‘There are some very good wines and some less good wines with brittle acidities,’ he commented. ‘However the best wines on the left bank are comparable with 1996 because of that clarity of Cabernet Sauvignon.’

Vitis serverer litt brød og noe enkelt på papptallerkener for å holde tanninene under kontroll og gummene på plass.
